Planning For The Awards Season Of 2017-18

We’re coming to the end of another year full of glittering achievements in music, the arts and on the silver screen – as well as in the corporate world and in industry. If you’re looking forward to the 2017 awards season or even planning an awards ceremony of your own, find out how to prepare for the awards season of 2017 - 2018.

Dates for your diary

For the glitterati, the awards season of 2017 will begin almost as soon as you’ve recovered from your New Year’s hangover. The first major award ceremony of the season will be the Golden Globes on the 7th January 2018. This will be swiftly followed by the Critics’ Choice Awards on the 11th and the PGA Awards on the 20th. February 2018 will be all about the BAFTAS, held on the 18th, while the 90th annual Academy Awards will take place on the 4th March.

Plan your publicity

If you are holding an awards ceremony for your company, take inspiration from the glamour of the Golden Globes and other glitzy awards. They all gain mass attention from the media, securing great publicity for the recipients of the awards and the projects they have worked on. The same should be true of your own awards!

While you may not warrant headline news in the celebrity magazines, there’s no reason why you can’t get a mention in the relevant trade press and online blogs. Think of your award ceremony as a publicity opportunity, and get the word out there well in advance of the event. Why not use our event checklist to help plan your publicity, as well as the other details of your ceremony?

Make it a special occasion

Awards season is all about making people feel good, celebrating the past year and highlighting outstanding achievements. It’s also a great excuse to dress up and party! The key to a successful awards ceremony is to make it feel truly special – whether that’s by inviting a celebrity special guest, offering top-quality drinks and canapes or marking the occasion with lights and special effects.

Confetti cannons set off at the moment the winner is announced are a great way to heighten the drama. Choose from Tissue, Glitter, Streamer Cannons and more.

Build your reputation

Get your company talked about for all the right reasons! During the awards season of 2017 - 2018, you have the perfect opportunity to mingle with the great and the good from all walks of life – people who may be able to work with you in future to build the success of your business. Think of your awards ceremony as a networking opportunity – and consider attending other awards events in order to network with others there.

Motivate your staff

Holding an awards ceremony for your employees is a great way to show your appreciation of their hard work during the year. While only a select few may win awards, make sure every employee feels valued by giving them a night out to remember. Treat them to an evening that feels special – provide entertainment, food and drinks, and create an atmosphere of celebration.

Whatever you do and however you celebrate, we have a feeling that the awards season of 2017 will be a resounding success.
